Incorporating BOTOX into Your Regular Beauty Routine

There’s a good reason why BOTOX is a perennial favorite among Americans, retaining the number one spot in minimally invasive cosmetic procedures for more than a decade — it works. BOTOXⓇ Cosmetic and its botulinum toxin type A counterparts effectively reduce the lines and wrinkles that form on the top half of your face, making you look years younger with only a few injections.

At Brown, Pearson, & Guepet Gynecology, our team of gynecologic experts believes that women should have the tools they need to look and feel great, inside and out. As part of our comprehensive suite of women’s health services, we offer BOTOX and other injectables to patients in Fairhope, Alabama, and it’s all overseen by Dr. Christy Guepet.

If you’d like to explore why BOTOX makes a terrific addition to your regular beauty regimen, read on.

The aging face

When it comes to aging, especially on your highly visible face, there are several forces at play. First, years of making facial expressions begin to leave their mark as the lines become increasingly etched into your skin. This is not only due to extensive use, but also the gradual decline in the proteins that lend support to your skin‚ namely your collagen and elastin.

As well, years of exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays can prematurely break down your skin, especially the sensitive areas around your brows and eyes.

A wrinkle timeout

BOTOX tackles the lines on the top half of your face by disrupting the signals in the muscles that contract to form the wrinkles. BOTOX is FDA approved to temporarily make your moderate-to-severe frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead lines look better, which can give your face a more youthful appearance.

And the best part? BOTOX takes us only minutes to administer. At our practice, Dr. Guepet has extensive experience with BOTOX, and she knows exactly where to strategically inject your muscles for the best effect. Her goal is to provide you with a naturally youthful look, rather than a “frozen” look, which she accomplishes in short order right in our office.

After your BOTOX treatment, it may take a few days for your results to appear, but the wait is well worth it as you watch the lines and wrinkles give way to a smoother, more youthful surface.

Creating a BOTOX routine

BOTOX is considered safe for most adults, which is why so many of our patients make it a regular part of their beauty regimen. BOTOX typically lasts 3-4 months, at which time you simply return to have Dr. Guepet deliver another round of injections. What this means is that it only takes 3 or 4 visits a year to maintain your great results.

There’s also some evidence that with regular BOTOX use, your muscles may begin to weaken their hold because of disuse, which means that your results may gradually last longer.

To be sure, results vary from patient to patient, but BOTOX is such an easy and effective anti-aging tool, it’s certainly worth exploring how it works with your face.
